Backpacks just scream travel to me. Maybe its because I’m a student. I tend not to think about travel as in vacations or airplanes, backing through Europe, or a cruise ship on the open seas. Instead I think of travel as the distance between one building to the next, between the library and my art studio, between work and the bus stop. Travel doesn’t exist on the scale of miles or plane flights, but on the scale of footsteps and bus rides. Travel is what students do, from class to work, from breakfast to dinner, from morning to night. We travel between classes, we travel between assignments. We travel in our minds, from subject to subject, history to art, English to science. We routinely travel the terrain of collective human knowledge, and our backpacks come with us every step of the way.
