Have you ever worked in customer service? Where there’s a bell people ring to get your attention? And sometimes people ring the bell even though you can see them and they can see you? And sometimes you get the feeling some people ring the bell just because they think its funny. And even worse you can’t shake the feeling that some people forget that you’re human in the first place. They ring the bell like its a dog whistle or light switch. And the line of people calling on you grows, and grows. And slowly the annoyance increases. You work as fast as you can but no human being can be in ten places at once. Nine maybe, but ten? Not even the Flash could do ten. Ring them bells, ye heathens.

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.” -John Donne
